06/28/25 Peach Eatin’ Horse Boat Gravel Ride

Peach Eatin’ Horse Boat was a great day with perfect weather on the best gravel roads riding along eight other friends, including a few new ones. Dennis and Julia joined the group for the first time and had a lot of smiles throughout the day. It might have only gotten up to 84 degrees, there was no wind and plenty of shade and cloud cover, but it did get hot on some wide-open climbs a few times.

Sampson was hiding in the shade somewhere when we rolled up, but Merrill rolled down the road and found him. He enjoyed a couple of apples and an orange and was happy we brought new friends.

We all enjoyed a nice break at the most interesting Exxon. I had gotten a phone call on my headphones right before we got there, from my bank but couldn’t hear them. When I want to pay for two peanut butter oatmeal pies and some water, I got declined. Sadly I didn’t put the two together until later. Hardwick picked up my tab and I got to introduce him to my favorite gravel snack. Turns out I had hit the atm for some boat cash and it got flagged. Fortunately, I was able to call them back and confirm, and all is good.

Keep your eyes on the calendar for the next gravel adventure. All are welcome, so long as you are good for the route(s). It’s great having new faces along. Thanks to everyone that made this a great ride today.
