10/12/22 Power Pedalers Natchez Trace 300 MS Ride

This is not my event write up, but my recounting of a great give back adventure supporting friends riding 300 miles to fight MS. I had not planned to do the ride, as I was planning to do Shake n Brake the following Saturday, and would not have been back in time to get a good nights sleep before the race.

I got a call Sunday night before the ride asking if there was any way I could drive SAG support for the ride. As luck would have it, I had my work affairs in order, and I was in. It really excited me to think about being on the other side of supporting a ride with these logistics. Twelve riders doing roughly 100 miles a day with hotel stays on two nights.

Alabama Power did an amazing job putting this ride together. The hotel and dinners they provided were top notch. We dined exceptionally well. My partner in crime, Shea Corbitt was along to provide massage therapy services. I must say this was the most well executed of multi-century rides that I have been a part of, and there have been a lot of them. Herbie, John, Charles and the very missed Jim have really figured out the format, and who to bring along. I look forward to collaborating with them on some really special plans for next year.

We met at Alabama Power Headquarters early Wednesday morning, and the adventure begin with seeing the friends I would be supporting and making introductions with the rest of the team. We shuttled the riders to the Natchez Trace at milepost 444 in Nashville. Day one was 100 miles to Florence, AL. The weather was amazing the entire trip and we had the absolute best time for the fall colors, it was beautiful.

I was happy to be able to become the group photographer while shuttling back and forth from the back of the group to the front and checking on riders. I had plenty of time to scope out good photo spots and get in a good position to capture our adventurers. Hope you enjoy the pics.
