12/27/25 Perry Oakmulgee 66/52/28mi Gravel Ride

UPDATE 12/26 – RIDE IS CANCELLED!! Caught the Christmas cold that is going around. to be rescheduled. Merry Christmas!

Rolling at 9am from Pleasant Grove Baptist #2 in Maplesville. As it stands right now (12/23) The weather looks to be 62 at 9am and 74 by 2pm, overcast, but barely any chance of rain between now and the ride. That’s a good thing, because these are softer red clay roads and can get peanut butterish when soaked.

These routes have rougher surfaces than Clanton, and plenty of large chunk gravel here and there as well as some notable climbs. When dry, there will be plenty of sand patches. Bring some bug spray, bring what you need to fix your bike and bring some friends that like the tough stuff. This is a self-supported ride.

All 3 routes have a common first 10 miles, where the 28 mile route will take a left on Holsombeck Swap road while the 52 and 66 stay straight until the Bethel Baptist Spigot at mile 20. From there the 52 mile route will double back and head to Pinetucky, while the 66 will pickup a 14 mile loop that includes a fire tower.

I did this route solo in October and was too chicken to climb the fire tower by myself. Hoping someone shows up that can report on my demise if needed.

The 52mile route has a store stop at G&L Grocery at mile 41, and the 66 mile route stops by at mile 55. Don’t forget your Can Do Attitude!

Download the route you plan for and the shorter ones in case you need a bailout.
