This past weekend I ventured out to Toccoa, GA for Chainbuster Racing‘s Assault on Currahee Mountain Gravel Race. I’ve decided to take it easy over the winter, so I came to sweep the race. For those that don’t know, my basic responsibility was to keep an eye on the last rider. I say basic because what I really did was offroad my Forester all over Currahee mountain, following the long course route, keeping an eye and an ear on the last rider, and helping folks out along the way. I had to double back at all the singletrack entrances, and a couple locked gates, and navigate back to the next spot the last rider might be. I might have driven 100 miles off road on Currahee mountain Saturday, and had no clue it would be the last miles I would have the privelage to drive that 2020 Forester. That was a bad machine, and there was nothing wrong with it. I took it in for 60k service today, it’s a 6 hour service, so I hung out with my buddy Logan who sold it to me, and drove home in a 2022 Wilderness Edition. I can not wait to tear up some off road in this baby.
It was a great race weekend. I had a blast driving and supporting my cycling folks through some of the most beautiful mountain views in North GA.
Saturday night we held the awards banquet at Strong Rock. Congratulations to all of the athletes that I got to race with and support during the 2022 racing season. I am extremely appreciative of the relationships that come from seeing all of you so many times during the year. It was great celebrating with all of you.
