Eight of us rolled out of Isabella High School this morning to some welcome overcast skies and amazing temperatures for August. Between us we road all 3 of the routes and enjoyed  rolling together the first 23 miles until Hardwick split off on the 70. The rest of us rode together until mile 39 and met back up in the parking lot.

I chatted up my favorite road out there, Old Selma Road, but it hadn’t rained in maybe a week, and it was very dry and had some nice sandy spots over it’s 6 miles. It actually had a little bit of everything, with some nice mudholes somehow still standing water. Some of these roads don’t drain so well, so beware after a downpour.

It was great having long time mtb friends Nick and Grey join the group today. Our group had a great chemistry, and we all had a great time getting out into the backwoods today. The heat did kick up towards the end, and that’s where the good climbs are too. Great job today everybody, and thanks for making it awesome.

Once we got done there was one car left. Hardwick was still out on the 70. I drove the route out reverse and met him about 10 miles out to check on him. He was having a good time, almost rode right past me. I topped off a bottle with some ice water and let him enjoy the rest of it.

What an awesome day on bikes in the dirt.
