02/14/2026 Dirty Deluxe

A group of friends invited me to do the 200mi Dirty Pecan with them in March, so I’ve been trying to get my training going but weather and a cold had gotten in the way a little. The group decided it would be a good idea to do the Standard Deluxe 100mi route Saturday, and since the Dirty Pecan was less than a month out, I knew I really didn’t have a choice.

For some unknown reason that no one took credit for, we rolled out at 7am when it might have just hit 40 degrees. The sky was a little overcast, but by the end of the ride it ended up being 60 with almost clear skies.

I could have been anxious about the distance, or the elevation but I was able to keep my focus on being thankful for a group to tackle these challenges with. I don’t think I looked at the mileage along the way except for a couple of times. We had a great time cutting up with each other while keeping an eye out for each other. There were a couple of spots along the way that I felt the miles and the climbing, but in the end I think we all had a great time riding out there together.
